♥ Saddam is sure popular today on the boards lol. I personally think that he did deserve to be punished but not hanged. I wish they would have kept him in prison for the rest of him life and If he wanted to die, then they could have the right to do that. In a way it is right that he was excuted, and in a way it wasn't. May his soul rest in peace

I feel very sad about the execution of Saddam. I think that it is wrong to handover a prisoner of war to his enemies. In Iraq, there are internal power struggles between the Shiites and the Sunnis. While the Sunnis support Saddam, the Shiites hate him and wanted him executed. This is basically the doings of the U.S., who also wanted Saddam executed because of the problems that he has caused in the Middle East. It was a Shiite court that found Saddam guilty and sentenced him to death. He should have been imprisoned for life for the atrocities that he committed.

It was too soon. The U.S. still doesn't have a steady handle over Iraq so executing him now is only going to make things more violent and bloody.

I think in the LONG run it will be a good thing that he's out of power but right now it's only making things worse.

Much as I feel I'm not qualified to comment on this (Its so easy to say Saddam was a monster, or Bush, for that matter )question, I feel the people who are in charge of all this have even less authority...

he committed horrible acts against his people. He was convicted of what amounts to being a serial killer, a mass murder. Murderers should get the death penalty. I don't believe in coddling criminals. I believe in taking care of the victim's rights, the criminal forfeited his rights. I think if all convicted murderers and rapists had justice carried out this swiftly our crime rate would drop dramatically. Don't get me wrong, i am a Democrat and i don't believe Bush deserves credit for this. He needs to find Bin Laden and make sure he suffers the same fate.

What worries me is this: in the USA a person can get hanged for committing just one murder. Saddam got hanged for genocide. How do law-makers account for this massive difference?

It doesn't make the situation in Iraq any better does it? I would rather have him rotting in jail for the rest of his life for all the damage he caused to innocent people... than getting him freed from the pain in a few minutes. I think Iraq was in a better state until americans invaded it... now it's a hell on earth!

This is the millionth time I've seen this question. It really irritates me that anyone would be in doubt. What would you do? Have him over to be an entertainer at your kids birthday party. Maybe he could be our new ambassador to Palestine.
