Yes I think hanging Saddam was the right decision. I also think there should have been an American representative present as a witness. Now as far as war goes Iraq is in a civil war and yes I think it will get much worse. The desire to kill American soldiers will be elevated off the charts. We can thank the Bush
administration for this. I also think that the U.S. should go back to public hangings for the murderers, rapists and child molesters who only get smacked on the hand and set free. The U.S needs to focus a little more on the problems with in. This nation has become soft in the ways of laws, executions and being politically correct. We need to start putting the fear of God back into people.

The hanging of Saddam will cause even more death on the streets of the towns and cities of Iraq. Looking at a graph on BBC TV News a short time ago, we were shown that immediately after the invasion the number of deaths remained steady and low. From the time of Saddam's capture by the Americans, the death toll on the streets of Iraq has climbed rapidly and is now going off the top of the graph.

The death penalty is legalised murder, I am opposed to it and so to are the majority of the British people and their government and also all of Europe (EU and UK law forbid the death penalty).

Saddam should have been given a long jail sentence in the region of 25 years. During that time, he should have been given every opportunity to return to God. He should have had the company of an Imam who could have read to him from the Holy Koran. Saddam could have been persuaded to confess of his sins and seek redemption and thus find his way to Paradise.

The whole Muslim world and indeed my own country UK, are appalled at what has happened. An execution at the beginning of the Holy Muslim Festival of Eid - an absolute disgrace an insult to Muslims everywhere and a blasphemy before God.

All that we have done is played by Saddams own rules of killing.

Gandhi once said that "an eye for an eye leads to a blind nation". And, so it shall be.

I am personally against capital punishment, but in this case with a person being responsible for killing hundreds of thousands of people, I would say that this is fair. Think if you lost a loved one to Saddam Husein would you feel the same...

You can watch the video up to the point where he is hanged. They suddenly stop recording at that point. The video is clear and you can see him and the executioners in great detail.

They record again after the body is removed from the gallows. The video is poor quality and you cannot tell if it really is him or not. His face is covered with a cloth except for his nose and parts of his eyes.

Why did they stop the video before the actual execution when they had declared they would show it on TV?

Why is video so poor after he is removed from the gallows?

Why is so much of his face covered that you cannot see him well enough to identify him on TV?

What are the chances that is was really one of his look-alikes who was executed - one who was willing to sacrifice himself for his beliefs?

Someone as rich as Saddam would have easily made a deal with the government to "look the other way" as he left the country in exchange for all his wealth being left behind.

No,
Pesonally I am against capital punishment. However, if the powers that be deemed it so why couldn't he have been given a lethal injection. I felt that hanging him was stooping to the barbaric level for which he has been accused. It will definitely cause unrest, however, if you notice the British public have been shown no weeping and wailing for his death by the BBC but I cannot believe that his followers have kept quiet. This will escalate!

No, according to the human rights. It will be the turning point for Iraq and U.S. It will get much worsen esspecially in Muslin countries. By thw way hanging was too old type of killing. May be its good for him cuz he is very useless even if he is kept alive. Now there is ZERO tension for the former President of Iraq, Mr. Saddam Hussein. I don't know why i feel so sad for him even he I hate him. =(

No I don't.
In Iraq, anyone aged 70 can't be hung.(Saddam would've been 70 in April)
He didn't even get to appeal the decision.
It wasn't fair.
Inspite of his past actions/crimes.

Tricky one. People want vengeance.
I'm opposed to capital punishment as it's just legalised murder. Now he's dead he has become a martyr and a rallying point in a way he couldn't be when alive and pathetic.
i think he should have been left to rot in gaol.
