I prefer Toyota but they are about the same. Toyota Camry - I have had 2 and drove the heck out of them. Now have an Avalon and never had to do anything to them but gas/oil. Never in the shop.

Only a japanese car can be compared against a Honda. So, a Toyota Camry is the obvious alternative. Maruti Suzuki Baleno too has a superb engine, and would cost a lot less.

If you are okay with an SUV, Honda CRV or Suzuki Vitara can also be considered. But, SUVs tend to be more powerful and less fuel efficient.

It depends on which year model of the honda accord are you talking about? Toyota Camry has been the best to compare against Honda Accord, but many other car makers recently improved their quality, so you now have quite a few at hand. Best bet is to do a side-by-side comparison of cars that have roughly same specs and cost the same. Hope that help.

If you are in India, there's nothing else in the same price bracket. The Toyota Camry which can be compared and is just a little better in most parameters is much more expensive.

A wannabe accord is the Hyundai Sonata Embera. Comes at a comparitively inexpensive price, but is not as classy to look at or be in.

The accord comes in 2.4 and V6 3.0 engines. 2.4 VTEC is cheaper and great value in this class

Usually the more powerful your engine is, the more gas it will consume. My Civic isn't as powerful as an Accord but the Accord will probably run out of gas before my Civic does. I consider my Civic to be powerful enough for me. I can pass people when I want to. I can merge onto the freeway just fine. The people that are harder to pass are the ones that aren't driving slow anyway. I sit low enough to the ground that with my MT I feel like I'm going faster, and that helps me to not get into trouble with the photo radars. ;)

The Civics cost less than the Accords and they're a little more compact. Hondas are reliable as all get-out though. I have total faith in my Honda. My last Honda was an old jalopy Accord that had been through hell & back and the engine was still running fine at over 217,000 miles on it. The oil leaked a bit, the car had "cancer"(rust), the ac was broken, a broken window was replaced with plastic or plexiglass material and bolted in from the outside like Frankenstein's monster. The brakes went on it finally and I didn't want to pay $2000 for new brakes since I only paid $400 for the car to start with. Honda gave me $500 trade-in for it when I bought my Civic in '04.

I love my Civic, it fits me perfectly. I like that it has great gas mileage and I like that it's more compact. Even though it's more compact I can still fit all kinds of things in it. Aside from routine mainenence and one accident (the car got smashed up but I wasn't even bruised) I've never had a problem with my Civic.

I think there's a perfect car out there for you, but it's up to you to do your homework and decide which one that will be. I did my homework and researched everything I could think of and decided on my Civic. I've driven it across country, I drive a lot locally, I napped in it back in college when I was working full time and tired. I have a good sized trunk. I have my 12" subs in there and still room for groceries. I have the nifty flip down seats. I brought my 46 gallon bowfront aquarium home in that Civic. One time (before I got my subs) I fit 27 metal folding chairs, two employees, a hamster and myself in that car and we drove across town to a stupid meeting. And back again. Somehow when we got back to my store we had more chairs than we left with. My car never ceases to amaze me.

I've had it since March of '04 and I love it, like we were destined to be together. =)

Honda Accord/Toyota Camry/Nissan Altima....First...they all check at the same point..Second..but Toyota is best known for getting the best gas mileage other than that they all rate the same. Third...up to you as customers which decides after giving you all the choices...what feels/looks better to you.
