Biggest Pro: No glasses!

Biggest Con: None really. Some people say they're bad for your eyes but I've worn them for 16 years with no problems. Just keep up with the cleaning and give your eyes a break sometimes.

Pros: Don't have to wear glasses this is good if you hate how you look while wearing them! You can wear sunglasses without having to buy expensive prescription sunglasses. You can change the colour of your eyes if you want to. And lastly there not that expensive these days so you can probably get a package including the lenses, solution and checkups for less than £15 a month.

Cons: If you have sensitive eyes or allergies like hay-fever then you can't wear them when your eyes are affected by these. If you want to wear them for longer then 12 hours a day every day 7 days a week then you need to discuss this very seriously with your optician as different types of lenses let different amounts of oxygen to the eyeball, the more oxygen they allow to travel through the healthier for the eyes. Also contacts to change your eyes and long periods of wear i.e 24/7 is not recommend as your eyes need a break.

I have just switched to contact lenses about six months ago. I think the pros are that you will have all of your prereferral vision, you will be able to wear good sunglasses instead of clip-ons or transitions which dont work well while you are driving. Another pro is that if you play a lot of recreational sports you dont have to worry about your glasses being slapped off your face. On the other hand some cons are you have to remove them daily and you have to get the hang of putting your contacts in. At first I was afraid of poking out my eye but it was all psychological. At first my contacts dry out but my optometrist gave me some eye drops. Also the contacts I have must be taken out before you sleep although there are some you can sleep in. In general I like contacts better than glasses but I have a spare glasses just in case I am in a hurry or do not feel like putting in my contacts. I hope this helps!

As mentioned in many of the other users answers, they are more attractive, letting the world SEE your eyes. They're great for swimming, other sports, and many many other things. As a wearer myself, I've only found cons to lie within certain types of lenses.
Another user asked a similar question, and to save time, I will copy my answer, I hope it is as helpful to you.

Let me start by telling you I am a current contact lens wearer, and have been wearing them for 20 years now.

My father is an Optician and has been for over 30 years, and has been the biggest help throughout this time of my life.
People with perfect eyesight don't understand what it would mean to those of us with less than perfect eyesight to be able to wake up clear eyed, seeing all around us, the weather outside, heck... even what the alarm clock says!

I have tried many and varied contact lenses by different companies, different styles etc. The best contact lens out there for extended wear is the Acuvue Oasys lens. They are marginally more expensive than the others, but it is made of a silicone based compound (senofilcon A), which allows breathability, elasticity unmatched, and holds in the natural moisture of your eyes. They also have what is referred to as "Hydraclear plus" which is a fancy name for a protein compound remover.

Make sure you get fitted for them, as their axial curve does not fit everyone's eyes, due to astigmatisms, or any other common difference. Once fit for them, you can wear them as long as you like, provided you keep them well.

The last kind I tried left me with a corneal ulcer that burned so badly that tears were pouring out of my eye for three days. I have to tell ya, nothing...and I mean NOTHING hurts as badly as that did, and the manufacturer (I won't name names, no need to mudsling) claimed that you could wear them for a month straight, sleep with them etc. When I went to take them out, it pulled off the topmost protective layer of mucus on my eye, which caused the ulcer. I had to put in opthalmic eye ointment every night which was uncomfortable and annoying, for a week solid. That week of my life was hell.

Granted, everyone is different, and can tolerate different contacts differently, but that one is my suggestion, particularly for makeup wearers such as myself. They're very hardy, durable, comfortable lenses.

I really hope this helps you. Have a great New Year!

There are many kinds of contact lenses.I use monthly soft contact lenses which i have to take out every night before i sleep. If i am too tired and fall asleep before i take them out,i wake up with restless red eyes.Additionally, towards the end of the evening my eyes get tired and i experience a loss in the quality of vision. So i recommend you to use eyeglasses at home. But there are contact lenses that you dont have to take out regularly with varying cost.

relying on what style of correction is important on your eyes, there are categories of touch lenses obtainable. I even have an astigmatism, so I ought to positioned on "toric" lenses. the 1st pair the scientific expert had me attempt have been too dry for my eyes. the 2d style are those I even have been donning for over six years now. So be arranged. the 1st style they attempt won't be actual for you. in the adventure that your eyes experience too dry, such as you pick for to place drops in each and every hour, then you definately choose for a diverse variety. i've got in no way had a issue sticking them in my eyes, yet some human beings do. as quickly as you hit upon the style that your eyes like, and that they are correcting your creative and prescient without eyeglass frames on your way, you will love donning contacts. i take advantage of a on a regular basis cleanser made for senstive eyes from CIBA creative and prescient, and a weekly cleanser to boot. Your scientific expert will propose the main suitable products for you. do no longer sleep with contacts on your eyes, regardless of in the event that they say it incredibly is advantageous. Your eyes ought to "breathe," so contacts ought to be bumped off each and every nighttime. i like donning mine! i do no longer see any CONS to donning contacts. good success to you!

good- you dont have to wear glasses which can be annoying sometimes (i kno, i wear them) you look better (to some people) you can change your eye color.

bad- you may have to take eye drops for redness or water in ur eyes, it may take a while to get use to them. youmay end up having to put on ur glasses some days cuz ur eyes hurt too much- so dont compeletely get rid of ur glasses.

i hope this helps 8-)
