This song was on the Radio the other day. It was sung by 'Streetband' which was fronted by Paul Young.

Toast went in to the charts during November 1978, and got as high as No 18. At least Paul Young had better luck as a solo singer and writer!

Trouble is once you've heard it again it stays in your mind for Days.

Toast, yes I remember it well. I think the real singer was Paul Young but that might just have been schoolyard bullsh*t. Two pints of Lager was Splodgnessabound or something like that. Do you remember Car 67 by Driver 67 (or was it the other way around!)

i think the band you are looking for is Streetband. the number reached 18 on 4th nov 1978. Although Ian drury and the blockheads also had a minor hit with a number called toast
