You can pull the drive out of the laptop (carefully) and read the product number. There should be a "free" service & troubleshooting guide that you can download at your laptop manufacturer's website. Contrary to what others have said here, it is not that difficult to do.
Once out and you have the product number, you can search for a replacement at the manufacturer's website or call them. Unfortunately for internal components, most are proprietary. So you have to go back to the manufacturer for a replacement or upgrade.
However, another option is to get an external USB burner instead. There are lots of other options here.

someone once instructed me that there is even a topic in loading a retail version of abode windows operating device onto an empty partition on a dell computer. Dell pcs are made and heavily matched mutually in a device so some time-honored factors if offered for it do not look to artwork mutually, yet i'd be incorrect in diagnosing your dell computer. In a accepted optical pc force, frequently really 3 cables connect with the force, it truly is the ribbon records cable, the skill cable and the audio cables. yet on a operating laptop or computer i'm not particular. the perfect wager is to carry it to an area 'chinaman' computer keep who might want to be able to fix it up. except for that you may bypass lower back to a Dell restore centre or call their toll huge form.

You probably don't want to go there. It is very difficult to take much of anything out of a notebook and replace it. The first difficulty would be getting a tech manual that shows how to remove the keyboard. You can't do anything inside unless you remove that. Removing the drive is even harder.
Take it to a computer repair shop.

Just have a look at the underside of your laptop....to see if there is a slider for the DVDRW...then just slide it out and replace it with a new one......I dont know about the Medion notebooks......I know that on Dell notebooks there are sliders to take out CD/DVDRW..Battery..and HD....to replace
You'd think that all Notebook manufacters would do this

It would be better, just to buy an external dvd drive. To find your model number, and anything else that is in your computer, download this website, and it will tell you everything that is in your computer..good luck>>

Take it to a proper repair centre, even better if you can return it to the manufacturer for repairs.... Laptops are notoriously temperamental with a capital MENTAL, when it comes to home repairs and modifications.... At least if you give it to someone authorised to repair it, they are liable to do it right...
