Its those Americans that are the loudest and give the rest of us a bad name. I've been to Spain and i think its a beautiful place, i'd love to go back again soon. Some parts arent as rich and luxurious as others but you cant expect a country to be covered in gold. The US has it's "ghettos" and such, where we are not considered third world. The term third world has been used far too much and the definition has been lost.
Please dont let those idiots effect your view of us. There are a good amount of us who are intelligent, decent, and caring people. :-)

I just made my first visit to Spain in October, 2006. I was in the Northeastern part of the country (Barcelona, Taragona, Salou). Although I was only there for a short time, I found the people to be incredibly friendly. Even when we ventured away from the very modern Barcelona into the village-cities to the south, we were greeted with genuine smiles and never felt uncomfortable. The history of Spain is still alive and evident everywhere we went, and I absolutely must plan a return trip when I may spend more time!

My sister and her family moved to Calpe about 17 years ago. They love the place, and I love visiting. No way is it anything like a third world country. But.....I do find some of the Spaniards in town tend to look down their noses at Brits. Not all Spanish people, but I have come across quite a few

Hola
I don't think spain is a third world. I have been there twice and I like it a lot. Spain is one of my favourite country, nice people, beautiful beach, crazy nightlife and good shopping spot. Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia is perfectly developed. Spanish are very nice to me and I have a plan to go to Spain again Next year.

Spain, much better then my own country (Belgium), better weather, nicer people.
Only if something has to be fixed it's manana and tomorrow, well never comes...I only say that people of Spain take it more easy and yes that's better.
