I want to demonstrate noise levels are being exceeded. I think they are, but I'm not sure how to do it.

radio shack has a noise level meter that's not very expensive. but i can't vouch for its accuracy. ask the clerk at radio shack if you can review the literature in the box so you can see if it says how accurate the meter is.

maybe your local police have such a hand held device for shutting down load music parties I've heard this is out there in many fields to accomplish this need

wow good question..i guess you could use a stereo that tells decibls or something..borrow one from a friends maybe...goo to radioshack im sure they can help you..or camberidge sounworks
