My daughter used to be very unhappy with her body and in a bid to get healthier, she started turning the fat she had into muscle. That was 3 years ago when she started and now she is really muscular and very strong and she is prone to lose her temper sometimes. Last week she did and jokingly lifted up the sofa with me and my brother on it and tipped us off. She laughed it off as did we but i am really concerned she may take things too far when she is in a bad mood and do some real damage. She is strong enough to for sure. How can i carry on encouraging her to be healthy and not feel terrified by her strength and size again. Anyone else ever been in a similar situation to this?

She certainly takes advantage of being strong and it can be embarrasing for me and other males in my family. Apart from her we are all slenderly built so strength wise, she can and has overpowered all of us at some point. I benchpress around 210 and she can do 285. I say again she is 15 years old. Any advice?

Do some weights yourself.

Perhaps remind her that one can be too muscular. Exercising too much shortens one's lifespan.

i don't think a girl of her age is using steroids ,just because she has a temper ,that's just how teenagers are-very moody..if she exercises more than three times a week for a certain amount of time then she is bound to be a bit masculin, but there's a problem with a girl OR boy of her age body building , her growth will be stunted and she will probably end up with other health problems amongst them are hormone problems atheritis . (somthing i ended up with from over exercising at the same age as her).inform her that if she over does it she may end up with a disease that eventually causes the muscles to waste away .
the real question here is ..why you and other males are afraid of a girl who is a little tougher than yourselves.!!!

well first off lifting weights at that age isn't bad for her ...and second is she a big girl that's strong like (fat ) wise or is she ripped ??? whats her body type ??? does she take supplement's or anything like that ??? because her mood can come form the things she takes and she might not be taking steroids but if shes taking pills or something the could have a form of anabolic in them to cause her to get angered easy or her family's life style she might be depressive and that's what makes her sound off , or things might be affecting her at school , maybe she gets made fun of and takes it out on the people she loves there is allot of things that can be factors.

Sounds like she could be on steroids, as they make you very bad tempered and give you mood swings. There's nothing wrong with lifting weights if its done right and safely. Check what she's eating - if she's eating the same as you then the only way for her to get that strong is through steroids as girls don't have the same muscle formation as men/boys and its impossible for them to get big muscles through normal training. Maybe suggest running or other cardio, but it sounds as if she has found something she enjoys.........

Consider signing her up to a martial art or similar, so that she can continue her fitness regime in a safe environment, where she will be taught to restrain herself as well as burn off some of that teenage anger... it will give her an outlet for her energy, and also teach her to understand her abilities and limitations. She needs to learn to respect herself and others, so perhaps have a family member whom she listens to and will take seriously - about how she treats other people, and that she shouldn't use her strength to make people uncomfortable or uneasy at all.

Start pressing more weight - how can you bear to be beaten by a 15 year old girl? She started weight training much too early anyway.

If she has personality or anger problems then seek professional help.

If you have esteem or personality issues then seek professional help.

Although she could potentially hurt someone, you need to be proud of the acheivement she has made it losing fat and gaining muscle. Let her know that she should only use her muscles for weights and not for harm. I wouldn't discourage this.

Show her the film Matilda. That will probably put her off the heavy weights regime and onto a less impact type of exercise.

your daughter has classic symptoms of steriod abuse, I'm not kidding. moodiness, temper problems, and the muscle size she displays are all signs of steroids. I'd check her room for pills, and even syringes.
and no, she is not too young. illegal steroids have been found in school lockerrooms all the time.
