I was scared too. As long as you don't have an infection, you shouldn't experience any pain. Honest. Just some pressure that is "uncomfortable". When you say "full" does that mean "mamo"? You will experience slight pain with this, but remember, these tests, though a bit degrading and sometimes boring, is what keeps us from getting cancer. With this in mind, none of us look forward to it but we do it to stay healthy.
I was very nervous my first time. So nervous that I didn't pay attention to the ceiling. On my next visit I noticed that one of the ceiling tiles had a 'raggedy ann" painted on it with the word "relax" on it. The nurse said it had been there for a long time. I was so nervous I didn't even see it on my first visit.

You don't mention your age, so I am assuming that you are a teen or very young woman. I am a OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner, and that was my major responsibility...performing women's physicals inclduing pap smears. If you are a virgin, this might be more uncomfortable. The MD/practitioner will insert a speculum which looks like two spoons (bowls opposite) to open the vagina so they can see your cervix (neck of your uterus). Then he will take a small swab/brush and collects cells from the cervix. That part is finished, unless there are other concerns he finds. He will remove the speculum and put a glove on his examining hand with some lubricant and insert his hand into your vagina, simultaneously pressing down with his other hand on your right and left lower abdominal sides. He is checking your ovaries for cysts etc. He will also determine if your uterus is of normal size and shape. THe physical ends there and you can sit up. It isn't on any woman's list of favorite things to do with an afternoon, but all in all the discomfort is minor and immediately disappears. He should also do a breast check and teach you how to ewxamine your own breasts. By the way, he should have a female assistant in the room with him.Good luck and remember to have a pap smear every year!

dont be so nervous
it can hurt a little but not to the point where ure gonna start to cry.
theyll ask ?"s
you will have to get naked and they will do a breast exam
a pap smear may hurt a little but dont worry
and dont get freaked out when u see a speculum
GOD DO THOSE LOOK SCARY but their not!
just breathe
dont close your legs
ask for a female doctor because whoeverthe doctor is they will put there finger up there.
also you may need a rectal exam which is better than the gynn.
just incase you are going to have one lemme give you a scoop on what its like
your doctor will put his finger in then probably put a tube in there to check everythinc out
IT DOESNT HURT

No it doesn't hurt. It's just a little uncomfortable, but it only lasts for a couple seconds. Just make sure you are relaxed. You can bring someone in the room with you if you want. I brought my sister with me my first time. You can also request the smallest tool that they have. If you are a virgin it will be more uncomfortable, but I wouldn't worry about it. It's over in 2 seconds. Just concentrate on something else, and have a conversation with the doctor or someone you bring with you :)

No worries, just remember to keep your body relax!!! Cause it does feel a bit uncomfortable when they insert the clamp in to open you up! So keep your body relaxed and just breath in and out and it will be done and over in no time!! Good luck!

It's not painful. It's just nerve wracking the first few times.
