Neither..
Saddam's execution is simply the unjust end to an unjust trial at the end of an unjustwar. The principle of 'killing for killing' is both hypocritical and barbaric.
It is particularly sad that nearly every European country and the US made a statement voicing their opposition to capital punishment, and yet not one did a jot to intervene. It is as pathetic as a grown adult whistling with their hands in their pockets while a school bully beats up other children in the playground.

Not in the least. Lots of people in the region - the Sunni rebels in particular - see the current Iraqi government, whose judicial system tried, convicted, & executed him, as a puppet of the US. It doesn't help that he was in US custody up until the execution.
The trial should have been moved to a neutral venue. Even if the result were the same it would have been percieved in a much better light. Having it happen this way can only hurt the cause of peace in Iraq and, since nothing happens in a vaccum, the rest of the region.

I think alot of people are angry the way Saddam was killed. It seems as though people wanted to have their turn with him...everyone who wanted him dead wanted their chance to torture him. Alot of people seem to feel cheated because he was given a quick dead and not tried for other crimes he committed.
Personally I think that killing Saddam is only going to cause more violence. While Saddam was hated by numerous people, he also had his supporters. I think we will find that the war in Iraq will be much more volatile and dangerous than it was before his execution...
I don't know if an eye or an eye always solves things...it just shows that people find a way to justify murder.
