go with intel because they are more known for their products. They both perform the same way. Intel Duo 2 is more faster about 20 - 30 % because amd turion 64 x2 is like a intel duo processor.

I'm not for certain, but my Intel Core 2 Duo on my Dell Inspiron 640m doesn't perform as well as I thought it would. Ripping a CD while playing an old game from 1999 makes the graphics very slow and choppy, hey, I thought this was supposed to do TWICE the work, not go very slow. Also, I can't listen to music while ripping or burning a CD or DVD, because my audio goes very choppy and ugly sounding as well. Maybe it's how my Dell was configured, maybe Dell isn't a very good brand, but in any case, I'd recommend an AMD Turion 64X2. It's probably better than Intel. I've read many reviews, and most point to AMD. Good luck, and I hope your selection is a good one. I'm thinking maybe a Compaq Presario or HP...

It largely depends upon on the use you will give it. Should I have the choice, I would select the INTEL CORE DUO, because it's better for gaming.

But if you are going to use it mainly for business or office job, I wouldn't doubt it at all: AMD is the best selection I've ever made.

P.S: By the way, I own both systems! ;)
