What's to prevent them from doing the same number on the Sunnis that Saddam did to the Shi'ia? I've read accounts of Sunni Iraqis trying to hide evidence of their sect, and now there is evidence of a cleansing of Baghdad Sunnis.
Is it more important to quell the Sunni insurgency or keep Shi'ia militias in check before we consider Iraq a done deal?

It will take time for them to understand how democracy works. There were people in the 13 colonies who didn't want the British to lose power.
They will embrace it if they can make it work. The problem is we brought it to them, they didn't think of it. They probably aren't ready. The fact that they based their government on Islam is proof.
Democracy cannot work without a separation of church and state.

(Don't get excited, I don't mean cleansing the state of church!)

Hopefully the Iraqi government will become strong enough to do whatever is needed to protect their citizens.
