Could the wire from the alternator have a fusible link that is blown? Check for continuity between the alt and battery. Also check all fuses in the engine compartment and under the dash.

Could be a bad alternator out of the box? Check for about 14 volts DC at the battery with the car running.

Have you taken the alternator back out and had it tested? You could have gotten a bad alternator. It should be charging between 13.2 and 16.2 volts. If it isn't, it's bad. If it tests good then start looking for bad wires in the charging system. Pay close to the battery terminal ends. If they are loose or there is corrosion between the post and the terminal ends, the battery will not charge. Also check your fusible links. These are designed to burn out before your electrical system turns into a melted mass of goo. If one is bad replace it with another one. DO NOT use regular wire. Also check your grounds. You should have one from the engine to the body, frame to body, and battery to engine. If anyone of those is bad your system won't charge properly. Another often overlooked part is the warning light on the dash. When you turn on the key it lights up. When you start the vehicle it sends a signal back to the alternator exciting to field which starts the alternator charging which shuts off the light. If the warning light doesn't light up your alternator won't start charging.

Any chance the fan belt is just a little too loose? If that's the case your alternator light should be on. They take that off when working on it, and maybe they didn't put it on properly.

Any chance you got a battery that had something wrong with it before you bought it?

Any chance someone didn't install the alternator correctly?

Any chance the terminals need to be cleaned well?

okay, one of the two or even both parts need to be checked and double checked.Check the hook-ups wire wise, check the battery cables hook-ups pos&neg .It has happened that even a new battery has a bad cell in it.It holds a charge for a little while till it needs to start the car.also check your fuses all of them .
