I teach eastern geography and cultures and I have looking for a good video (or book) that would help my students to better understand what life is like in these areas.

I teach 9th grade, and one of my students told me that a book called Bound is really good. I haven't read it, but I think the title refers to the old practice of binding women's feet, so it may not be what you want.

Oh, yes--try Shabanu (part of a trilogy, I think), the story of a girl growing up on the border between India and Pakistan.

All of these books are easy enough for seventh-graders.

i studied Joy Luck Club in high school, its a book and movie. just don't reme,ber if its "suitable".
