Yes, you always forgive, because holding on to anger and hurt will only harm you, not the other person.

Have you been really disappointed, lets say, jilted in broad daylight by one you've regarded as a bossom friend and lover? The pain is terrible and all basketfulls of apologies prick even sharper than nettles! No I don't forgive or else I simply want to tell you an open lie because you know me not!!

Listen I have always been one to forgive and forget but... that's not always best. There are not to many things I wouldn't forgive my friends for doing... but don't let them walk on you if they know what they did and they know you will forgive them for other things they will use that against you. In the end it's what you want to do not what anyone else says.
Good Luck.

YOU MUST THINK - Is the disappointment that important?!
AND - how good of a friend?
Depending on the circumstances, I feel it is healthy to get it all out on the table. Letter, Email, In person - but voice the matter to your friend. Allow them to explain - or appologize - and then let it go. Letting it fester - and not dealing with it head on - will only allow it to happen repeatedly, and the friendship suffers in the long run.

Everyone is human. I'll bet you have or will disappoint someone in your time. If they disappointed you and you where hurt bad talk to them about it. Friends are suppose to be honest and trusting. The answer may suprise you. Maybe they disappointed themselves. Life is not perfect nor are humans. Be forgiving. And talk things out. Good luck and I wish you the best.

You've answered yourself by saying a good friend. Friends will make you crazy, piss you off, dissapoint...throughout life. But you grow from it. Even if you're mad for a while, you have your whole life to clear it up. That's what a good friend means.
