Bush was only after Hussien because he wanted Iraq's oil. THink about Hussien never did anything to the US except when we were actually over there starting stuff with his people, but when both of the Bush's have been in office we have been over there fighting under the cover of taking up for Hussein's people. The Bush's are only after the oil and putting money in their pockets. The US shouldn't have even been after Hussien. He was only hurting other Iraqies, so to me that mean the Iraqie's should take up for themselves. The US has enough problems of it's own. Like we should've been looking for Osama.

Some people seem to think that nothing serves us by punishing Saddam. We should all just live and let live. Forgive, turn away from violence. Punishment by execution doesn't change the world. Punishment of any kind, if you really want to argue it, does no good for the world as a whole. Nothing changes.
So what's the alternative? Shall we all just hold hands and pat the beast on the back while he rips off our heads? It's like trying to give a lion a head of lettuce as a peace offering. Saddam, to his dying breath was defiant. If you were to walk up to him and tell him you're on his side, he'd find an excuse to kill you.
Your heart might be in the right place, but your logic has gone awry. We can't bring about world peace. It would be nice, but it's not going to happen. In the mean time, we all want to live in relative safety.
If you want to forgive him for what he did to his own people, by all means, do it. Forgiveness is a wonderful thing, but it won't protect you like steel bars or a noose will. There is a time and season for everything. After 24 years of torture and terror to his people, it was his time.

Mixed emotions on this one. He deserved punishment for his crimes, I even think he deserved death. But when you think about how he tortured so many people before killing them, you have to ask "Was hanging him the easy way out"? He never let anyone die a death that simple. But I am not sure that his death will resolve anything. The middle east has always been in turmoil, they have always fought with each other. So if not Saddam, then who? There will be someone else - there always is another. I feel relief, because I know that he cannot seek revenge on the people who testified against him. But the fighting is not gonna stop. You can't help a country - when the people in that country doesn't want to help themselves. I know this sounds mean, but honestly they have got to want to help themselves. I don't want to judge Saddam, that one needs to be left for God, I just hope that the war & fighting stops soon - but I am not counting on it.

i know that your (question?) is especially much a entire LIE. If this ultimatum that regulate into given to him exchange into to conform with the UN sanctions, i'm afraid that that regulate into the UN that gave it to him and not the Bush administration. the full international concept Saddam had WMDs and it exchange into no longer the Bush administration that instructed the international that. the only part of your question that regulate into no longer a lie is Saddam Hussein exchange into homicide? Your opinion? My opinion is that Saddam exchange right into a murderer and there are a number of corpses in mass graves that have been uncovered to coach it. you certainly sound like between the Islamic fascists that are in this website to attempt to reason animosity between the Democrats and the Republicans. Your opinion?

It really will not have much of an effect on the current military situation in Iraq. I believe that his execution was carried out as an act of symbolism. Retribution for the Kurds. Besides that, I believe that many folks in Iraq simply don't care about his execution. It won't have much of an effect regarding the current situation. Saddam = past. Instability in Iraq = present.

I believe in the spirit of forgiveness. Peace to the world. That not going to happen. As I'm typing right now, more people are being blown up. YEAH peace indeed. While he was on trial, did the situation change? Are the corpses of the dead ones gonna come back? It's not going to change anything. Many Iraqi's are gonna die along not us in the west. Suicide bombers and loyalist are going to revenge killing scores of people . So what's the point? Why must more people die because of this man? NOBODY ! NOBODY should be treated (dehumanized by hanging)like that for whatsoever reason. LET GOD BE THE JUDGE

i'm glad he's dead. i think that the "what have we really accomplished by executing him" and "wouldn't it have been more punishment to make him live w/what he's done" is only applicable w/ppl who have a conscience. The man didn't have one, so confinement wasn't punishment for him. it was mildly irritating at its worst. And as much as i don't like Bush, i have to agree w/his statement that was issued upon Saddam's death, that Saddam "recieved the fair trial and quick, humane execution he denied so many". I think hanging is too good for him. i think they should've let his victims enact the punishment due a criminal not given forgiveness through Sha'ria law. let the widows, children, and widowers of his victims throw the first stones, and then let everyone else have a turn.

The timing of his execution is somehow connected to his other trail for having the Kurds gassed, which will never be brought into public scrutiny. The execution was meant to bury Saddam and any evidence again the Neocons for supplying the ways and means of constructing chemical weapons.

Nothing matters really. My city here in the U.S. is just like Iraq without an occupation or car bombs. Not enough police and no one cares. Not enough time in my life to make or see any worthwhile changes. It is better to cut and run but the suburbs are getting to be just like the inner city. America sucks and has a lot of nerve telling others what to do or think.

I have to have pity on anyone who is killed. If he did all the things he is accused of, does he still not warrant pity? If not for him, for his surviving children and grandchildren? We need to be careful, lest we become the very thing we hate.
