Depends on if you have an existing OS or if you have a corrupt win 95.
As a stand-alone, Windows 95 is still quite Good, and good for many apps that current OSs do not support.
Boot up into Ms-DOS mode and it is definitely "setup" ( at the CD drive) but you may have to use a switch so type in setup/? to find what switches are available. Also, the setup may be in a sub/dir on some Discs of Windows 95.

Pop in the cd, if you have one. It should auto boot. If not, goto some site and get a boot disk that has CDrom support.
I assume that this is an OLD OLD, OLD pc.
Okay, if you boot to a floppy with CD rom support, the command to start the install is "setup.exe" from the drive letter that has the CD or floppy.
Good luck.

You need a start up floppy for 95, 98, & ME. Once that is done I am sure you will have all of the 724 mb of space on your hard drive. I really can't think of any possible reason to install 95 unless you really hate your kids and your using it for solitaire and telling them its a new game system.

Swanny, frankly, I can't understand why you are wanting to reinstall win95. Microsoft does not even support it any more. Once you have it fully loaded, you won't be able to do anything with it. It won't be compatible with anything on the internet, nor any stand-alone software you might buy. And the "old" computer you want to put it on probably doesn't have the resources to do anything anyway.
Please tell me what your objective is, and what works on the computer now, and I will give you my best shot.
PS - After you did this "Can boot from win95 floppy to A:\ prompt, then it doesn't recognize CDrom?" did you try to go to the C:\ drive to see if it recognized that one?

I think you only need to boot off the CD.
