Saddam was a criminal, no doubt about this fact. But he also was a human being, with human rights like all of us, children, women, blacks, whites, serial killers... There is an international law, and laws are made to be respected. Also from you, americans, you are not an exception, you do not have special privileges. And do not tell me that Iraqi Government decided to kill a 69 year old man, because all the world knows that it is your president that gave this order. Do not be surprised if you will come here to Europe and people will insult you on the street: Bush is your president, you are a big democracy and you voted him. Not all of you, for sure, but he represents all of you. You are all guilty, no way out. We thank you because you saved us from fascism and nazism 60 years ago with the blood of your fathers. But today... today is a very sad day for your Nation

I beg your pardon, but I remind you that there is an international court in Aja that can judge war criminals like Milosevic of Serbia. I hope not to surprise you too much if I tell you that the winner in a war should not judge the looser! And once again Iraqi Government is controlled by the american one, or are you so stupid to believe that Iraq is indipendent from you??

I really think that you have news from Iraq only from CNN or other american TVs. Do you know other languages? Yes? So watch also other TVs and then come back here and write as fast as you want

Tony: None call americans to invade Afghanistan or Iraq. Perhaps if your army sas at home more blood of a lot of people will remain in people´s veins, and not on the street. This is also for your soldiers.

Saddam's execution is simply the unjust end to an unjust trial at the end of an unjustwar. The principle of 'killing for killing' is both hypocritical and barbaric. The "democracy" being implemented in Iraq by Bush and Blair is disgusting as a democratic society would not issue the death penalty. Bush is blood thirsty acting like a tyrant as he adds another death of an Iraqi to his name.
It is particularly sad that nearly every European country and the US made a statement voicing their opposition to capital punishment, and yet not one did a jot to intervene. It is as pathetic as a grown adult whistling with their hands in their pockets while a school bully beats up other children in the playground.

IRAQIS executed Saddam, and now IRAQIS are dancing in the streets. I'm very proud to be an American right now, thank you. We helped out a nation that had been under the rule of a brutal dictator.
Perhaps we should have left Hitler alone, too? It's the SAME THING. Brutal dictators, both of them, who killed more than a few of their own people. Hitler deserved no mercy. Neither did Hussein.

America is not, has never been, nor will it ever be a great democracy. Rather it is a convenient republic. Our leaders preach democracy because it appeals to the American people to think they actually have a say in the direction of our country. It also is fantastic tool to engage the sympathies of the citizens of oppressed foreign countries.
You are correct in stating that all Americans will ultimately be held accountable for the actions of our leaders. I agree toleration of injustice is a form of idle acceptance. But every country in the world is equally accountable for the actions of their leaders. It does not matter they be a democracy, republic, monarchy or dictatorship. It is the people in every case who will bear the brunt of a leaders decisions.
So. I agree with you today is another sad day for America. Not because of the death of Saddam, nor because of the opinion of some foreign country and not because you think so! Rather, today is a sad day because Americans refuse to take action on the growing divide between the wishes of the electorate and the actions of her leaders. We will ultimately suffer as a people and a nation for our continued apathy!

If our American government had the power to dictate to the Iraqi government, I think this war would be in a different phase right now. Get a grip.
And if it is such a sad day, why am I so happy?

The US troops handed Saddam over to Iraqi's before his execution. The trial was conducted by Iraqi's and he was sentenced under Iraqi law, more over HIS OWN law. The US's hands are clean of his death. He committed a crime and was punished by his country by their laws.
PS I'm D@mn proud to be an American right now and not afraid to go over in June to do my tour of Iraq.

Sad day? YES to hear of anyones death it IS in fact sad. but to see him hang? GLORY and PEACE to all who have suffered under him, i wish for today, that anyone who has suffered directly or indirectly under Saddams power, I hope you sleep well tonight knowing that all those babies, children women and men who were killed under his ruling know that justice has been served
to see anyone have to be hung is sickening, but to say that you will insult AMERICANS? why? we didn't find him guilty. IRAQ did.
so bless you and whatever country you come from, but her in America, we are bitter sweet today. Happy he is gone, although we don't beleive in hangings but Iraq still does so we respect that.

First of all Saddam Hussein was not a human being. At some point your actions lead to forfeiture of that title. Some human being made up the idea of "human rights" it is no ones god given or nature given right. Its a privilege to be human, there just isn't that much difference between us and the apes, and if you torture and murder millions of people you give that right away.
As for Europeans insulting me, your very presence on my planet insults me. I don't need to walk your streets to be insulted. You would have been sucked into one empire or another long ago if it wasn't for our nation, so don't give me you whollier-than-thou rhetoric, in my mind you don't exist.

honestly... i dont care for him at all, i know he was a massive killer and killed many of his own people.... but what i dont agree with is when they killed him, they killed him right before the muslim holiday... where mostly all the muslims in the country are going to go to the mosques and be celebrating thier holiday and with the bloodshed that has been going on it is very dangerous to have both sects all out and about... im sure they thought this through before they set the date
