makes the person who drinks it go crrrazy? Why? I just heard about it last night in the news. This guy was having some drinks at a bar and suddenly went berserk, hitting every person in range. They believe somebody slipped a match's head in his drink.

I have heard owners give gun-powder to pit-bulls to agitate them before a fight. What amount of sulphur would be necessary to cause this type of reaction in a human of average weight? The guy who drank it was definitely was pretty intoxicated not to have noticed a match's head in his drink. One would think the inhalation of sulphur by lighting a cigarette with a match would be more potent and fully absorbed in the blood-stream than that method, unless the reaction by fire alters by change, that much before carbonization, the composition of the compounds in the matches head causing such a reaction, before inhalation occurs. Is it the sulphur? What was the motive behind the "mickey"??

Well, match heads typically contain sulphor and red phosphorous, both of which aren't particularly healthy to consume. Still, you'd have to ingest a LOT of match heads to do any significant damage, and "going crazy" isn't one of the symptoms of phosphorous poisoning.

To me, this sounds like an urban legend used to explain why some folks go berserk when they drink (a match is used to spark a fire, hence it must be able to spark rage when ingested). On the other hand, red phosphorous is sometimes used instead of anhydrous ammonia for cooking meth, so the reference could have been to someone slipping amphetamines into his drink. Mixing stimulants and suppressants can provoke VERY strange and violent behaviors, which may be the case here.

More likely, though, the incident you've described is a problem with the drinker, not the drink.

outline "Morally incorrect" Whose morals are we wronging right here? i believe all and sundry who can derive any morality about the concern of ingesting is someone with too a lot time and under no circumstances adequate interest being paid to them. once you imagine that in circumstances lengthy handed through, ingesting beer became safer than ingesting the water in a lot of places, and likewise that alcohol has been round for millennia, then I an suffering to work out at what aspect in our historic past this grew to develop into an affront to all and sundry. As I sit right here, I actually have a classification of pink wine next to me, and they say that ingesting a pitcher an afternoon is actual solid for you. So i believe no guilt, and nobody would ever modern-day a logical argument that would want to convince me to regulate my concepts. sure there are human beings obtainable who can locate fault with something and each and every thing, yet as you will see that from the image on my 360 web page (hyperlink below) there are those who deem the computing device morally incorrect, and phone it a homo devil device... ?Temperamental? makes some valid factors about the right result alcohol has on the body, regardless of the indisputable fact that the body can struggle through likewise from human beings entering adversarial environments. Is it morally incorrect to climb a severe mountain previous the point the position the oxygen thins? Is it morally incorrect to deep sea dive? those products can influence the body and psychological procedure in only an same way, and also they are voluntary, so why do human beings draw a line with alcohol? sure that's stupid to bypass out and drink a lot that someone might want to exploit you, regardless of the indisputable fact that that's stupidity, not morally incorrect. i imagine particular prudes seem on the social "lubricating" effects of drink, and see human beings having relaxing on the decrease back of being comfortable, and when you consider that they are so uptight and under no circumstances had that relaxing, they blame the drink. i'm effective in categorising those who would call ingesting "morally incorrect" as severe misfits with undesirable social skills and a warped perception device... palms up all those human beings? ;-)
