I downloaded Stop.com and it has detected 2 viruses on the computer. I haven't seen anything unusual but how can I get rid of it? Is there anything on the Internet that is safe and free to get rid of the virus and such? Thanks for your time!

Hey Dudette,

Goto http://housecall.trendmicro.com

Scan your pc and let it remove what you have.

Then, go get ccleaner and adaware (do seaches for them) and install them. Microsoft's Defender seems to work okay if you want a microsoft product.

Also, for antivirus protection, IMHO the best thing you can do for yourself is a product called AVAST! http://www.avast.com. It is free and works well.

Kaspersky and others work well to. STAY AWAY from all the so called LEADERS in AV like Symantec, McAfee, CA, etc. They are just a lot of hot air. They cost too much and do too little.

I know that AVG offers a free antivirus, and although it's not the best, it does work. I would also try AdAware SE. It's technically an anti-spyware program, but it can also find some viruses and delete them. I would try downloading both and running a scan with both. If you've got some viruses, you probably have some adware and spyware too. You can download them both if you follow the links.

Yes, I have great softwares for you that will help youy get rid of viruses and spywares in your computer sweetheart, and I gotta tell you, those softwares are free and they work like a charm. So, here is the dirrect link for downloading them. I don't use a PC anymore, only my dad ( I am using a Mac and I am really happy with it :D ), but when my father uses the PC, he has these Anti-Spyware programs installed on his computer:

Ad-Aware
http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html

Spy-Bot
http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10122137.html

Spyware Blaster

Microsoft Windows Defender
http://www.download.com/Microsoft-Windows-AntiSpyware/3000-8022_4-10353597.html

You will notice, that after you scan your computer with those programs, they will clean your computer and the registry of your Windows of malicious software pieces of information, such as bad cookies from the Internet, Spywares, Malwares, Viruses and Trojan Horses Spywares from your computer. After you scan your PC, you will notice that it will run more smoothly. It will shut down faster, will run faster, will be more safe, will work more fast. Its amazing.

Its like cleaning your PC of cancer. :D

And, another thing. Try to scan your computer with those software Anti-Viruses at least once per week, ok? This will help your PC's stability and it will run more smoothly.

Hope I was helpful here,

I wish you a Happy New Year,
Cheers,

Albert Einstein

I usually go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com and use the free virus tool there. It scans your computer for all viruses and it can automatically remove them for you. You should really run Symantec AntiVirus on your computer at all times and it does the same thing, but it detects the viruses as they enter your system and removes them THEN before they have done any damage.

Run the 3 scans below. The combination should pick up just about everything.

Update and run your Anti-Virus program. Don't have one? You can run a free online scan from Trendmicro. When I have tested it it takes some time to run it but it may be time well spent if it can fix any problems.

Download and run http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Download, update and run Spybot---http://www.safer-networking.org/ . Don't forget to use the Immunize feature.

Download, update and run Adaware---http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/products/select_your_product.php

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.

besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.

download firefox for free, Just have a try:
