Of course you can, don't listen to these fools!

You would need just to change the video settings in the menu at the beginning to get the correct format, (pal, ntsc) which is just a difference in resolution and frequency.
However, if you're playing on an HDTV you won't even need to do this, as it will play at 720p or 1080i

Those fools who said no are actually right. You cannot go into the settings and change the PS3 from NTSC to PAL. That would defeat the purpose of making movies region locked.

The PS3 is region free, but games are not region free, so if a publisher decides to make a game PAL, then you can't play it on the American PS3.

It won't work with your TV because it would need to be PAL to do so, which you can only get in Europe.

yes all it should play games from here, England... the game qaulity should not differ, as far as i know, the PS3 is region free, and will play games from anywhere, although i dont think its Blu-Ray player is, you wont be able to watch Blu-Ray disc films on it...
