If dog food is new and improved tasting, who tests it?

Dogs of course. I'm a vet tech and when I was in school, we went on a tour at Nestle-Purina. They keep quite a few dogs and a few cats. They stay in very nice kennels and are well cared for. There is an on-site, state-of-the-art veterinary hospital , so their health is closely monitored. I believe that most of the animals are adopted out after a certain amount of time.
The "testing" that goes on there consists of taste comparisons and how the food affects the dog/cat over a certain length of time (i.e. hair coat, weight gain, energy level, etc.).

Possibly, nobody.
But, just in case there is ANY honesty in the advertising industry (I'd be surprised), test dogs.
If you want to know for sure, why not call up Purina and the other manufacturers and ask them directly.
This, along with probably everything else you'll read here, is a guess.

I'm thinking that they have lots of other dogs taste it and well I think you can tell if it likes it or not. Majority rules!
