My son aged 2 got on my kitchen unit, and managed to lose one of my fish. As i cant stand them, and they freak me out i had to ring around my mates for some one to come and find it. Managed to get my brothers round and they found it. The fish had been out of the water for about 20-25 maybe even 30 mins. Its alive! swimming in its tank, will it be ok, and how come it survived that long???

My fish was out of the tank for a few hours and then survived for over a year after that. The reason the fish died was disease, it was unrelated to the out of the water incident. Amazing, isn't it!!!

It can most likely survive for about 2-3 days(48-72 hours) or it can survive for as long as you wish it to if u have 2 buckets. All you do is leave the goldfish in the bucket of water and make sure the other one is very clean. Then, pour water into the clean one after 2 days(48 Hours) and scrub the container you just took the goldfish out of. It can survive a long time in there, i suggest you get a fish bowl instead.

Yes that sounds about right, goldfish can even last longer, there is a record of hours, not sure how many....but ALOT! There is a fish than last 6 weeks out of water, this is because in the wild its river dries up and it must go on land to find another by flipping towards it! :)

It'll be fine as long as it's swimming. Goldfish aren't anything but fancy carps, and carp are pretty hardy critters. As long as you take care of it, it'll be around for a long time. I've got a goldfish in with my oscar that has been around 7-8 years now.

I think they got some sort of extra emergency pouch inside their bodies, that carries extra water, or it could be surviving of of the water in it's body
