I didn't see it (and I doubt I will), but my friends who read the book and saw the trailers, movie, etc. said it was terrible compared to the book but okay as a movie. Those who didn't read it seemed to think it was pretty good and one even said it was really awesome. It seems to me that the movies made from books should be for people who are just too lazy to read the books. Those movies are ruining all the good books out there. *sigh*

Yes, the books were volumes better, but I wouldn't say the movie was an entire waste. I like Jeremy Irons as Brom, and Saphira had a nice enough voice. It was interesting to watch, if you didn't concentrate on how wrong from the books it was.
It was very wrong from the book. The Razaac were wrong, the Urgals were wrong, the storyline went too fast, Saphira grew up too fast, and the one that makes me mad, Arya was awake when Brom died, and therefore she could have saved him, because Elves are innately perfect at magic.
But it's still not a real waste of money. Son of the Mask, now that was a waste of money.

I didn't waste my money on it because I did indeed Find it to look like a piece of crap with cheap visual effects crappy actors and to me seemed like Lord of the rings Done extremly Low Budget.. Honestly I cannot believe Someone actually Took a really good book and turned it into this horrible Piece of Garbage! Im glad I didn't go see it The trailor was enought o make me wanna puke! It's trailor was worse than Bloodraynes!

I haven't seen the movie, and just ordered the book on amazon this morning. From what I hear, if you read the book, you'll think the movies stinks (like you said). And if you haven't read the book, you'll be ok with the movie. I'm a bit skeptical having read the synopsis (sounds like LOTR and Star Wars revisited).

I was ticked off! I can't believe they heartlessly butchered a really great story to make a quick buck. What a let down. I hope they at least pretend to make an effort on the next one. I feel so bad for the author. It should have been on the same quality level as LOTR or at least the Harry Potter Series.
