There have been a fair few nasty bugs going around lately. He might have not wanted her in the surgery in case she spread whatever it was that she has got - but he /someone still should have visited her at home. If she was still the same by the 2nd/3rd day, i would have caused a stink until someone came to look at her.
As she is still only 1 years old, the best advise i can give is trust your instincts and if you are still not happy, take her to A&E asap (they don't mind when they are still young). Our son was very ill at around 18 months and after a lot of arguing an out of hours gp finally came around (it was a sunday pm) and said to keep an eye on him unitl the gp surgey opened.
His temperature still didn't go down so we went in a taxi to A&E where he was admitted immediatley. They said the gp should have called an ambulance and send him straight to hospital!
Some gp/out of hour doctors are excellent - other are crap - you just have to trust your own instincts.

I think that the GP system does fail us terribly. All children should be examined by a doctor when taken unwell.
I had a similar situation some year ago when my daughter was unwell and meningitis was in the news
Doctor's receptionist would not make an appointment for her as she thought it un-likely to be serious
When I took her name and told her that when I put the phone down I will be dialling 999 and after my daughter has been seen I would then ring the national newspapers and quote her name and exactly what she told me and surprise, surprise I saw the doc with my daughter within 2 hours. Needless to say that she was not seriously ill and I was most grateful for that but the receptionist didn't know that. Neither did I.
I did also point out to the doctor and his receptionist my discussed
So unless you make a BIG fuss in the interest of your gran daughter's health the GP system will continue this way
Don't leave it and possibly regret it
I will say that the NHS direct in my area is very good and perhaps this is worth ringing if you are still worried
Good luck

Hello
I am so sorry your family have had to go through this. I am a nurse and i hear about this sort of thing daily. I am also a parent of three (All grown now) and have also been on the receiving end of this type of situation. The true sad fact is ....
They are over burdened with far too many patients per GP per catchment zone. First time parents of little ones do seem to get a rough time of it. Some docs presume they are being overprotective and overreacting so often don't feel the need to attend this sort of thing. First advice is always, plenty of fluids and deprivation of food or milk stuffs.
The problem with little ones is that they do dehydrate very very quickly and because their immune systems are so very weak they find it difficult to fight off infections without real treatment. Their situations can also escalate into something more serious very quickly. Maybe the little one did just have a bug to begin with, which has now progressed quickly into something more serious like a gastric infection. As a parent i have learnt to take in what the professionals tell me, weigh up the facts and then follow my parenting instinct even if it is contrary to the professional advice i have been given. I do hope she gets well soon. I hope your family never have to experience something like this again. I would go and see the original GP and explain your disgust at his lack of interest and care. Good Luck ! xx

Doctors now adays are over-worked and have to many patients. Not that that makes it right, it doesn't when a child is concerned. If she is in the hospital it is the best place for her now. Next time you have to go to the doctor demand that more be done. Remember that they work for you and it is in your best interest. Also a second or even third opinion is an option.

i think it's probably the time of year. gp's must get so inundated during winter with children with the same symptons over and over again that they assume everyone has the same problem.
unfortunately our poor gp's, like the whole nhs is so over stretched its hard for them to keep a check on their patients all the time. they do what they can, even though it seems like its not enough. its a shame that our countries being reduced to that.
atleast the little one is being looked after now, i hope she gets better soon! xx

i would absolutely get a second opinion. 95 percent of doctors shouldn't be, and don't even want to be. its not what they thought it would be but after they get their education and owe the money for it, they are stuck. they don't liek seeing whiny patients all day and then when they get someone who really needs attention, they are burned out. it is true i have aclose friend who is a doctor. i don't know why they don't listen to the patient or the mother, but it is a really bad deal and sounds like your granddaughter is in grave danger, you need to get a second opinion and don't put so much trust in one man. it is so scary when they are so little

Why do no longer you attempt to ask police counsel with the subject. attempt to locate to locate some family participants s that would help them eliminate those persons obtainable. Or attempt to seek for the help of the neighbohood, air your concerns to all the participants and communicate approximately what you're able to do relating to the subject and please tell the son too. Its merely problematical to pay attention somethings as weird and wonderful as this and the undeniable fact that i'm no longer able to in basic terms come to that place and take them myself out their.. It might desire to have been a hellish place for them to liveby... I merely hate people who does not have any admire to previous persons to think of that they've been their in rules.

unfortunately there are so many time wasters nowadays that doctors cannot see every one who want to see them, its a shame cos its the people who really need them that suffer. I hope your grand daughter gets better.
