why can't i use songs from my Ipod in Microsoft Movie Maker?

I've got over a 1000 songs that I put on there and have purchased, but I can't find them on my computer.

the only problem with ipod is that the software only work within itself. You cannot download anything from iTunes, for the software will not be compatible. iPods are awesome, but apple really screwed people by not opeing the flood gates to the information and entertainment of the internet.
