He should never have raped her, All women whether prostitute, or not deserve respect. Plus he is a rapist, with him it is not about sex, it is about power. If not caught he would have continued raping other women where ever he went.

Rape is not usually about lack of opportunity. It is about having a feeling of power and control over another person. Even if this was a "sex for cash deal," that deal did not include being brutalized... which makes it rape. It doesn't matter if there was money involved or not. Hopefully that disgraced Marine will enjoy his prison cell... and will stay there for a long time.

I don't think anyone ever has the right to force sex. And considering the circumstance...I'm sure a lot of the girls there prostiting do not have many other options...its a horrific crime, and it gives a bad wrap to honest marines.

You words are harsh, but filled with pseudo-wisdom. Americans are horrible people and always have been. I think he is probably guilty, and if not, he's paying the penalty for the actions of another person. Probably got black-out drunk and lost his mind. Seemingly honest mistake. Hopefully, our government doesn't allow him to be prosecuted by a foreign court. UCMJ will do just fine...

To all the Phillipines, I am an American and the wife of a soldier. Please know that as a family, we feel any soldier who disgraces the uniform, or its people in anyway should be held accountable. I am sorry that one of our own disrespected not only this woman, but your people in this way. It saddens me, but I am glad that justice has been served for this family and for the people of the Phillipines. Americans should not all be represented by this one man, just as no people wants to be represented by the bad people of their society and culture. May God bring peace to this woman's entire family.

Yeeeess he was an idiot!
In Cavite, prostitutes run for 35 P (about 70c). I remember when living in Laguna, I got a phone call from a girl asking if I would buy her.... Well, wife was downstairs :-) (Wish they would have smiley faces).

I think you're right. What probably happened was he paid for something, and forced and willed his way to something else. I've heard of this happening before. My "friend" has been to Amsterdam many times....
