As a few people have mentioned so far, if you don't have webhosting (this often comes with the domain) then you will need this. This basically supplies you with your own space on the web, these days hosts usually supply you with many features that can be useful for a webpage such as forums, CGI scripts and other useful tools which you can learn about later. Once you have this, you will need to start making your page. The best way to do this is using eith HTML script or to find a good programme that will write the script for you. The best one I have found is Macromedia (Now owned by Adobe) Dreamweaver, this however is rather expensive. A good programme that is available free is NVu, available from http://www.nvu.com, this has worked rather well for me in the past.

Many Web hosts have an Admin / Control Panel feature that will help you design your page. However, this can be pretty rudamentary, especially if you're looking to sell stuff or run a professional-looking Website.

Or, you could take the time to learn HTML, CSS, and probably some PHP. Once you have all that down (aim for a year's time), get yourself a good FTP client to upload the pages you create to your Website.

Or, you could just hire someone to build the page for you, if you can afford it. Most of the time you can get a good site for under $500.

Check out http://www.elance.com to hire a Web designer. You can post an ad describing what you need done and designers will place "bids" on your project. You can select which designer you want based on their past experience level and price quote.

For a website you will also need to buy hosting.
It is possible that your isp may provide some hosting for you.
This is the place where your website is stored.
Your domain is simply a way to find you website.
Once you have your hosting, your hosting provider will let you have details of the ftp settings.
You will need to contact the people providing the domain to let them set up 'forwarding' so that the domain points to your hosting.
You can create your webpages in Word and export as html.
You will then need to 'upload' these via a ftp program such as cuteftp to your host.

If all you have is the domain, follow the above advice to find a web host. If you already have the space, you need to find an easy to use freeware web building application. I don't recommend Frontpage *ever*, Dreamweaver is too complex and expensive for a beginner, and expecting someone with no coding experience to hard code an entire page in HTML is unrealistic.

NVU is apparently pretty good. It's free, basic and has some good tutorials. http://www.nvu.com/index.php
