I used to because I was self conscious or afraid of the answer- now I would rather just know, and I don't care about the response- I just want an answer.

Not really. I have a harder time getting upset with people and confronting them than asking a direct question about themselves.

No, unless the person made it clear from the beginning that they would only share what they were comfortable with. When that happens I don't know quite what to do, so I usually just wait and ask very little. I don't like it and it usually makes me do all the talking when I would rather be listening.

No....I'm Dutch, and we have no problem asking someone personal questions about themselves. (mind you, I wouldn't ask someone if she had an abortion, or similar questions like that)
I got into serious trouble when I stayed with friends in America....I didn't know asking a pretty personal question was not done there......took me ages to apologize and convincing them my question was NOT meant to hurt anyone....I just wasn't aware of the cultural difference between us.

No........it is soft time when I ask a direct question, but when the questions continue, it would be a hard time ...

Yes. But I am getting much better at this. I've a friend who has done wonders in helping me learn to open up and share my feelings. Painful process!

If I know the person, then absolutely not ... the question would be glaring at them in their face!
