While other are putting up list, I am going to tell you what they mean.
They mean that a person is to lazy to type the entire phrase!
While these abbreviations may be nice in chat rooms where saving a few key strokes may be important, I have seen them popping up all over the place, notably here.
It sometimes makes things confusing and never impresses anyone outside a chat room or in text messaging.

It comes from text messaging where you have a limited number of letters to send per text. As long as you, the sender and the receiver know what the abbreviations mean it's a doddle.
