No, he is dead because the U.S. wanted him dead. I am sure the people of Israel are not in mourning over it, though. He was one of their biggest enemies.

Sure Saddam was trying to build the "Super Gun" back when Rummy and GHW Bush were enjoying Saddam's hospitality.
But this execution was only to prevent the Democratic Congress from questioning Saddam.
