Not easy as the BBC and newspaper forums are censored and the very nature of a special interest forum would exclude the wide range of opinion avalable on this site. There are some US sites where the input is fairly educated but the opinions are from such a narrow spectrum that they patently fail the 'worldly, courageous and challenging' aspects of your criteria.
There is a wide range of people on YA and I think that putting up with the ones that cannot put a sentence together is a worthwhile price to pay for the diversity.
I hope I am not begining to sound like a liberal.

There are 'forums where intelligent and worldly, courageous and challenging people exchange views opinions and experiences'
You will have to assess their adequacy youself

perhaps 'This one is crammed full of no brainers and is lame.'
but can also fit your first definition too.

I find this site to be a mixed bag. Yes, there's a lot of lameness, but there are good questions and answers, too.

It is NOT a discussion site, so if that's what you want, try searching for News Groups in areas of interest.

I find that the quality of questions here varies from minute to minute, but you can often find interesting questions by sticking to some categories. (Social Science, Science, Arts and Humanities, Law, and Education often have lots of interesting questions. Keep refreshing the screen if you don't like what you see at first.)

If you want to ask about good forums for discussion, you'd get better results if you mentioned what sorts of things you're interested in.

Or were you just interested in insulting all the other people on this site (many of whom are knowledgeable, insightful, articulate, and helpful)?

Good questions, i like the way you generate excitement and criticism at the same time. I would suggest a game forum where kids are worldly, rude, challenging, will exchange views opinions, and experiences, and call you cute names starting with the letter f many times :-)

You can take the money from your obvious success and start your own. All the intelligent, worldly, courageous, and challenging people should be ready to jump ship.

Charge a quarter each to keep the riff-raff out.

Then someone of your elevated stature should be able to lift up all those lame no brainers to your level.

I thought when I saw your question that you were just someone who generaly complains but I noticed you've answered a good few questions and have tried to be quite active. What experience have you had that's made you feel this way about this site? I've only recently strated using it am excited about the potential. Have you not had any good answers so far?

That's because this is not a discussion group. You might try MSNBC discussion groups, though I wonder if they will question your intelligence, since you seem not to know the difference between a discussion group and a Q&A. .
