Because the funeral isn't about you. Unless of course it is YOUR funeral, then you can be dressed in whatever you want.

You can wear whatever you like.
But why are you going to the funeral. If you're in an area where the convention is to wear black, then wear black. To do anything else will mark you out as self-centred, spoiled and childish.
In most areas of the US funerals haven't changed much since Victorian times. I assume you're in the US. If you're in the UK funerals have changed very much more but vary greatly from one area to another.

A funeral is a solemn event. It's a time for mourning and respect. Hip-hop clothing doesn't fit into that kind of thing.

When going to funerals it's the norm to wear nice, respectful clothing. Funerals are really for the living- the surviving family. Showing them how much you loved and respected their child or whomever is one way per clothing. Show them you cared . . . Just think about it.

If the person who has died was young ie teenager, the parents often request bright colours be worn instead of black, to celebrate the persons life.
If this is not requested, black should be worn as it is the mourning colour

Because you're supposed to show respect for the dead and grieving. Maybe you should think more about why you're going then what you're wearing.

Rebelling doesn't really show that you're thinking of the person who died... you're thinking of yourself.
