No, it would be the same as killing him on Xmas eve, not Xmas day, which does not matter regardless.

Second, I can assure you he gave no thought to committing genocide 24 7 365, so whats the difference.

Plus Saddam was a secular leader not a Muslim leader.

No, it's completely different.
I doubt very much whether the wider Muslim community could care less about Saddam. Let's not forget that he killed tens of thousands of Muslims as well. He only has a few thousand supporters in Iraq anyway. I have no doubt though that the cowardly, fundamentalists of Al Quaeda (and it's ilk) will waste any time in trying to distort the timing of the execution as an inflammatory act.
He was executed by Iraqi officials and the timing was chosen by them as well. Most, if not all, of them I would assume, are Muslims also.

The Iraq people wanted to remember this Historic Day on their favourite eve. They wanted to put Saddam, their devil into the burning fire and purify him through their prayer and give all those murdered people a peace.
No, X-mas day is not the day to purify him with prayer. They wanted to put Saddams devil thoughts as fast into fire so that it wouldn't spread as far as they think. So, the UN by their words hanged him on the day they wanted .

I agree the timing is dire but it was promised that he would hang before the end of the year. Maybe they felt that Muslims would not react due to them observing Ede. I guess that for a lot of Muslims there will be cause to celebrate too but that will have to be dampened due to the festival too

I've got no problem with him dying, it's just (which I think is wrong) more of an insult to Muslims killing him on that day.

There are no executions during the festival of Eid, which is why he had to be hanged before it started.
