The ATHLON 5200+ is 2.6Ghz, the 3800+ is 2.4GHz.
I dont know what that answer about athlon numbering there processors, comparing there speed to Intels processors, but I dont think thats true.

The higher the number, in most cases, the better the processor. Generally, the number at the end of all AMD Athlon processors is how well it performs when corresponding to the Intel processor of the same GHz speed.

For example, though an AMD 2000+ is only actually a 1.7GHz processor, it performs just as well as an Intel 2Ghz processor.

So, in this case, The Athlon 5200+ runs as well as an Intel 5.2Ghz processor, and the Athlon 3800+ runs as well as an Intel 3.8Ghz processor, whereas their actual GHz speed might fall somewhere in the two or three GHz range.

Both of these processors you're looking at are quite high in processing power, but the higher number will always result in a higher processing power, and thus better the processor.

EDIT: And John Le, hence the term "generally" in the second sentence. Officially, AMD bases these numbers on a wide-range of industry standard benchmark softwares. However, many people think that it is also a nod towards its main competitor, Intel, in showing consumers what competing processor it performs on par with.

Either way, I still get the point across in my answer; the higher the number (assuming each are of the same type, and in this case they are, both being dual core, which is why I didn't feel the need to elaborate on this point), the faster the processor.
