Valerie is wrong!
Any modification is possible in a vehicle.
You could even power it with a gas turbine out of a helicopter!
The questions you should be asking are questions like
How much will it cost?
Who can do it and still make the vehicle street legal and reliable?
Can I keep the same engine?
Will the car do a better quarter mile time?
Will it be suited to the traffic conditions I encounter (eg if lots of heavy stopstart traffic you may cook clutches and be better ooff with an auto.)?
Can I really drive a manual or do I just think I can?(lots of guys and girls 'can' drive a manual but don't pay enough attention to what they and the car are doing to do it efficielntly)

It should be possible, but it will be time consuming and expensive and could invalidate any warranty left on the vehicle.

Why not PX the vehicle you have for another Monterey with a manual box and save all the effort time and maybe cash ?

Yes, John b is right there is a lot of work to change from auto to manual I did it with a Mondeo but i had the advantage of having the complete manual car so it was only a matter of swapping everything over

Of course it can be done.

But why on earth would anybody want a manual gear box with all that clutching and sticking in the proverbial British traffic flow?

yes it is but it's quite a bit of work as you need to change the pedal box and cut a hole in the tunnel for the stick
