Every time we purchas new cotton towels, they seem to repel water instead of absorbing it. After many times through the washer they start working properly. HELP

Do NOT use fabric softners, they create a barrier and keep the towel from absorbing the maximum.

Ifeel you should let the new towels stand in water overnight to remove all traces of starch, chemicals and dyes. This should help.

When you buy them and wash the first time, put a little vinegar in the rinse cycle---No fabric softener.Then just dry on hot heat til dry..HAPPY 2007.........

don't use any fabric softener on them, use hot water, and color safe bleach along with the detergent or regular bleach if they are white.
