I just happened to be up this morning watching some of the morning cartoons, since the wife and kid were asleep and I noticed that the cartoons sucked. When I was a kid, we had HeMan, Thundercats, Gi Joe, Smurfs, Ninja Turtles, and countless other cool shows. Now we have Power Rangers and Sponge Bob and some weird Pokemon stuff? What has happened?

I think the day of the Sat morning cartoons ended with the early 90s when they started showing more live action kid/teen oriented shows (Saved by the Bell, Hang Time, etc).
I think the advent of cable tv also hasn't helped. You have more and more cable channels that are dedicated to just cartoons, and more stations that come up with their own lineups.
Anything a bit more mature that teens and up can get into is ending up on cable, and later in the day (afternoon) and especially at night.

I totally disagree. The all time low for cartoons was in the early 80s. Today's cartoons are very clever. Look at all the the awesome stuff on Cartoon Network, for example.

It's not you, Saturday television has sunk too way below. I wish I knew what happened. I preferred Scooby Doo and all the Bugs Bunny and Friends cartoons. Johnny Quest scared the dickens out of me.

I have found few cartoons that I like since the 70's. Give me a Yogi Bear or Fred Flintstone any day.

I agree with you. Now days, none of the cartoons that are supposed to be educational, arent even appropriate for them. They need to change some of these shows.
