Full of pride/emotion moment for me must be watching one of my children get on the school bus for the first time when he started school. Doesn't sound like much, I know, but a big moment for us!

I'm going to add this to the "doesn't sound like much" list.

My son graduated from high school this past spring. At his graduation party in a local park, he and his friends (about 10 in all) were talking together when someone put Bohemian Rapsody on the cd player. Mind you, this is a song from MY era, not his! All the guys were singing along and had their arms around each other and really getting into it. It was very clear this had happened before and was meaningful to them. It reminded me of movie scenes where the director is trying to show the last time that a whole group will be together as boys before they go off into the big, bad world. And, of course, it kinda was.

But for me it was also the first time in a long time that I, as his mom, got a peek at his just-with-his-buddies life. I wasn't included (and wouldn't have expected to be) but I was given the privilege of seeing it.

More momentous things happened to us this year -- both good and bad. But I will treasure that memory forever.

I have a few of them:

* Sending a Valentine's card to a very sweet girl, having plucked up the courage for months to do so.

* In the springtime, I went on holiday to Argentina. I didn't really know what to expect, but had read so many great things about Buenos Aires. The city really captured my imagination, and I got in with a great crowd of people, and did some things for the first time, that I have always wanted to do on a holiday.

* In the early autumn, I also had a week in Barcelona, and like BA, it is a place which really captured my imagination. One day, I had been on a stroll along the seafront, and passed the artists along Las Ramblas. One very talented artist had done a series of paintings of Barcelona 'scenes.' It is such a rich and varied city so the artist had plenty of interestingly unique things to depict. In that moment, I really 'got' Barcelona and understood exactly what the place is all about.

* When I returned from Spain, things were very positive and hopeful for a while. Everyday life was zipping along very nicely, people were being positive, the weather was excellent, the outside world was bursting with autumn colours; and I went out with a group of really cool friends, and had a really enjoyable night with all sorts of romantic moments.

Hopefully, 2007 will have more of the same things and even better.

The big "October Suprise" storm that left everyone in Buffalo without power for a week. Mostly all the trees fell and not a lot left. Not the best memory but it sticks with me.

The best memory of 2006 for me was the first time I kissed my fiance. It was a very beautiful day on the beach.

That is a very sweet memory. For me, what comes to mind ,is when we were taking a boat from California, out to Catalina, and we were on the top deck, where it was really windy. The smiles on my boy's faces is something I will never ever forget. Just smiling, looking out into the ocean.

I agree that is a big moment to remember. For me it was my wife and I celebrating our 5 yr anniversary together. We've been through so much and we're still together. It made me happy and proud!
