The toolbar is called the protection bar, it installed itself without me giving consent, and now i can make it come off using "right-click". any ideas, ty
i also keep getting random pop ups when i have no ie open, asking me to buy some antvirus thing, could this have anything to do with it

Download HijackThis---http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php#hijackthis. Run and Save a Log. When you log comes up copy and paste the entire log at http://www.hijackthis.de/ . Analyze your results. You will then get a screen that will tell you if you have any nasty stuff in your computer. Follow instructions to deal with any nasties. CAUTION: This is a very powerful tool. Be careful.

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.

besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.

try this way see if it will work
click on tools on the right put a check.on menu bar. now you will see Files,Edit,View,Favorites, Tools,Help.

then hit on >> tools>manage ADDons disable all on there hit on them 1 at a time then hit on disable then hit on ok close off IE7 and reopen it .then do a virus & spyware check up ur pc is full of spyware & malware
