Losing of mucus plug maybe a sign that labor may begin soon.. in a few days.. The way you are feeling that the baby is pressing down your vagina is what you call as "lightening" in which the baby is setting in to the pelvis.. This would give your lungs more room to expand making it more easier for you to breath because your diaphragm was compressed during pregnancy..

About your contractions, it can be a true contraction or just a Braxton Hicks contraction.. In order for you to differentiate between the two you should observe the following:
a) Are the contractions regular? Time your contractions from the beginning of one to the beginning of the next. Look for a regular pattern of contractions that get stronger and closer together. Contractions that come at least every five minutes are likely to be the real thing. The contractions of false labor will remain irregular.

b) How long do they last? Measure the length of each contraction by timing when it begins and when it ends. True contractions last more than 30 seconds at first and get progressively longer — up to 75 seconds — and stronger. With false labor, contractions vary in length and intensity.

c) Can you stop the contractions? True contractions continue regardless of your activity level or position. In fact, they often grow stronger with increased activity, such as walking. With false labor, you may be able to stop the contractions by changing your activity or position, lying down or even taking a walk.

d) Where do you feel the contractions? The pain of true contractions tends to begin high in the abdomen, radiating throughout the abdomen and lower back. With false labor, the contractions are often concentrated in the lower abdomen

Don't hesistate to call your doctor regarding your symptoms.. They have the better judgment regarding you case and immediate care will be given to you..

The loss of a mucus plug does not guarantee birth is near. The mucus plug can actually renew itself. Contractions, can come and go for weeks too.
It's so hard to explain everything, until you go through it yourself! But you WILL know when you are in labor. When you can no longer breathe and walk through the contraction, and they are 5 minutes apart, call your doctor and go to the hospital. That and if your water breaks.
If you are feeling pressure it just means you are carrying low. Wait till you feel the ring of fire during pushing...oh man!
Good luck and congratulations!!

Its getting close to that time. You may have your baby before the 3rd. If I were you check and see how often the contractions are coming. if it is at most 3 min apart and they last 30seconds or longer call your doctor. If your water breaks then I would go immediately. Good luck and Congratulations!!!

If you can walk during your contractions it's not quite time.
Are you timing them too. If they are less than 10 minutes apart you should head to the hospital or call your midwife.
If your water breaks you Will need to go to the hosp.
You'll have this one soon. Maybe be a new years baby

Congratulations, you are going to be a mother very soon! Try to relax. Baby is moving down and getting into position. If contractions start to be 5 minutes apart...contact your doctor or if your water brakes.
Good luck!!

Hi Hon, you need to put a call in to your doctor. Your water doesn't have to break for you to be in labor. Don't wait around especially if you have a long drive to the hospital. Its better to be safe than sorry. You deserve to be checked out at least to make sure everything is okay. Good luck to you and your little one.

When you are unable to walk without stopping to catch your breath, then I would go to the hospital.

Is this your first or subsequent pregnancy? It makes a difference
