From the book (and movie) The Davinci Code, it is an anagram for "Madonna of the Rocks" which means, if you scramble the letters you can make a new phrase. Madonna of the Rocks is a famous painting by Leonardo Davinci.
Philisophically, one can also interpret it that mankind has been "conned" into believing the story of Jesus Christ or in God in general.

You have definitely got this from the da vinci code. Later in the book itself the answer is given - it is an anagram for Madonna of the rocks while it literally means how little the man's actual knowledge is.

Can you put it in it's context?
I would imagine it's a pronouncement about the evil of mankind, but I've never heard it before and I don't know what con means in the sentence.
