I love all kinds of music. However, Hip Hop is crap. It is a step below today's R&B which sucks. The only things worse are Rap and Disco.
Granted, even in these sucky genres there are some jewels. The Fugees or Coolio's Gangster's Paradise. Although, I must admit I liked Amish Paradise better.
The kids go for it because as with every generation, they want their own music. The problem is that as they grow older, they never acquire a taste for real music.

What you say is pretty accurate with the acception that I listen to Jazz. That's my dad's job. Lol. I love the oldschool hip hop, not modern rap that's all about sex, drugs, money, cars, etc. Oldschool hip hop was very artistic and peaceful. There are 4 elements of Hip Hop: Graffiti, Emcee, DJ, and the Breaker. Me and my friends BBoy to Funk, Hip Hop, Old school beats, etc. I'm white, they are all Asian/Pacific Islander. So what you say is pretty true, I think it's "cool" but I'm not doing it to get known and look cool to black culture. Just like in America, you will have all mixed races and styles, in Hip Hop, you will have the same. There's gonna be people who BBoy to Techno There's gonna be people who mix funk with rock There's gonna be people dressing differently to the originals Because Hip Hop is not only a style itself, it's YOUR style how you interpret/express it. Good question.

I don't think hip hop is the best form of music ever, but it is a good form of music, and I think it's a shame you obviously think so little of the genre. The lyrics you gave in example above aren't really what you would call hip hop. They're just rap (though rap and hip hop are technically the same thing). In fact, the Black Eyed Peas aren't really even rap, just pop.
From the way you're talking, you seem to think that hip hop only just emerged in the last few years. It's actually been around for decades, so you must be pretty old not to have grown up in a decade when it wasn't trendy to like hip hop. Have you ever tried listening to some hip hop music that isn't mainstream, or was made before the '00s? You may be surprised. It annoys me how so many people make generalizations about things without actually researching the whole history and variety of the thing.

No way! Most of the hip-hop music blows. Some of the songs are good but most are not, most of them don't have talent just a pretty face. Someone finds them and says i'm goign to turn you into a star, and they write their music for them, and even the beats all they have to do is sing it and look good, no talent, talent is rock bands, especially from the 60's and 70's, no one can beat them, they write their own songs and their own music, and they come togeather in a group to do it, not some team of employees from the record company. Hip hop sucks!

To tell you my opinion of hip-hop the best. H*LL NO! The music is good but wtf are they saying?!?!
Go for the 70's and 80's. Get some "Eagles, or "Yes" at your next party. And I'm what you would call young, I still think it sucks. Old music is better, new stuff is crap remixes or crap to begin with. They ran out of ideas now.

No,it's the second worst,in front of rap. Only a few hip hop artists are real good. As for rap,D4L sucks the most. they expect to gain fame with one crappy Laffy Taffy? dream on.

It's not really very good music. You are right, it is hip and happening and trendy, but its probably one of the worst forms of actual music.
