You need two things that you probably already have: a paper bag and an iron.

Set the iron on low put the bag on the wax and heat it with the iron. The heat from the iron will attracted the wax like a magnet, and the bag will absorb it for you. You may need to adjust the temperature of the iron. Just don't set it too high as it will melt your carpet. A rag will also work in place of the bag.

Finally there may be a slight stain in your carpet after so have some rug cleaner handy to get that out.

1: Set your iron on a low setting so the fibers in your carpet will not melt.

2: Place an ordinary sheet of computer or writing paper over the wax.

3: Place iron on paper absorbing the wax. Rotate paper to a clean area or use a clean sheet of paper and repeat. Repeat until wax is completely absorbed by the paper.

The iron and cloth is a good idea and works, but be careful you don't leave the iron on too long or you will have a permanent imprint of the iron on your carpet.
Another idea that sometimes works is ice-cubes. Lay them over the spot for a few seconds and then lift off with an eating knife.
Good luck.

The answers already provided are ok-home remedies, but if you can afford it, the absolute best solution is to buy an aerosol can of liquid freeze. (Custodians often use it to get chewing gum off furniture and rugs in schools and you can search for it on the internet). You spray it on what you want to remove, it will freeze the wax and then you can scrape and brush the wax off of the carpet, followed by a vacuuming.

I would try using an iron with steam. Good luck with the red color, as the best way to fix that is to remove the damaged spot and put in a new patch of carpet from your remnant or your closet.

Put a towel over the wax, then run a hot iron over the towel. The wax will melt and the towel will soak it out of the carpet.

Before you use an iron! put ice on the wax after it gets cold enough the majority of the wax will chip off.

The person above is correct. If any color remains in the carpet use Resolve foam. I used this to get my son's grape juice out of my beige carpet.
