I'm sad that the authorities had to resort to judicial hanging and disturbed by the number of people with no connection to Saddam's Iraq who seem to have some sort of bloodlust in this matter.
However, reluctantly, I think that he had to die to stop him becoming a focus for those who would see his return to power in Iraq. His crimes were unforgivable and while I would have preferred to see him disappear into obscurity to eke out a miserable last few years, it seems that his death was a necessary evil.

There's a difference between 'he deserves to die' and 'he should die'. I'm not sure exactly what i think regarding the death penalty in general but anyway in this case the martyr-cult of sadam has been created. he wanted them to kill him and make him practically a saint to all the extremists, and they gave him what he wanted! i don't think the authorities thought through the consequences properly (although it's understandable that they wanted revenge after years of misery and the dsgusting crimes he committed). Even though alive he would have been a figurehead for revolt, i still think in death he is possibly more dangerous.

There are few people who deserved to die more than Saddam Hussein. He is responsible for more murders than just about anyone ever. Maybe Hitler comes in with a few more. I knew a liberal would come spewing their anti death penalty garbage. Just knew it.

The jury saw the evidence and rendered a verdict that was carried out - that's the way it is.
A lot of people protest other capital punishments but once the appeals run out - the execution happens regardless (unless stayed or pardoned).

In a word, no. There were no weapons of mass destruction, end of. He should have been left to run his own country - look at them all now, they needed someone like him, they are out of control.

There are people in this world that don't deserve to live. He was one of them. He put people alive into meat grinders He got off EASY. Justice would have been him having to experience every death he was responsible for. If you saw with your own eyes every murder he did, you would want to torture and kill him yourself. Come into reality, the water's fine...
