I think the following reasons can be attributed to their break up.
1. They were pretend lesbians
2. They were manufactured by Trevor Horn as a short term project
3. They ran out of hits to sing.

The did not break up! At 14 December T.A.T.U. had a concert in Lithuania.The band performed songs off a new album Dangerous and Moving.This gig was a part of their World tour,so they'll certainly visit other countries.Below there are some fotos from that concert:
