your life is what u make of it. but at the same time, life seems to be a lot like a poker game: you play with the hand u r dealt, and sometimes u have to bluff your way through it. i know that for me, life doesn't have to suck. as long as i do what i think is right, and don't hurt anyone in the process, life's good. hope this helps.

I get a charge out of those "life is what you make it" answers. How naive.
Are millions of African children doomed to starvation, AIDS, and/or crippling adulthood because their life "is what they made it?"
Or "if you think life is a mess then it is a mess". Therefore all those kids in Africa are in that situation because they think that is what their life must be.
What childish nonsense.
Thundergnome said it best: it's a poker game. Do the best you can, and you can increase the chances that things will go better for you. Provided you aren't in a hopeless situation like those kids in Africa, or any other third world country, you at least have the option to try. There will be losing hands, certainly. In fact you may not see a winning hand for a long time. But there's always the chance you might someday, so it pays to keep trying.
Oh yeah, let's not forget those "there's a plan for me" egotists. If there's a plan for little old me, that means that everyone who ever lived before me, and all things that ever happened anywhere, happened just so that I could be here right now living according to that plan. Of course, I can't be just what my ancestors were - nothing but preparations in the plan just for some future person. Not me. I'm important.
Right. "A plan just for me" if the height of egotism.
Just keep trying. Don't give up.

FOLLOWUP: one of the other responders suggested that if you suffer from depression, you should get help.
That's very important. If you're depressed, you can't really make rational decisions about whether or not you think life is nonsense. Get help from a therapist or a psychiatrist. They're the ones who have the rational answers, and their answers will be rational, logical, and sound - not like those greeting card "life is what you make it" and "everyone has a purpose" phonies.

Sometimes, it may seem that way, doesnt it. You grow up,maybe get married, have a couple of children, buy a home, a car, a flat screen tv, and everything else you dont need, then you rush off to work for 40 hours a week to pay for all this stuff you dont need, and in the meantime, you are in debt up to your eyeballs. If this isnt you, count your lucky stars. But if it is you, remember that it could be much worse.Everyday is a learning experience if you are open to it. Maybe you are bored with life, or you need a change. i dont think life is nonsense. I believe that whatever we learn here will be useful in the afterlife (which will last much longer than it will here on earth) Although the everyday may seem redundant, everything you do affects your soul, and maybe even others. Rejoice and bask in he glory of life. Dont miss out on what it has to offer.

Life for all of us is about learning what we need to reach our goal and move on to the next, wheither that be heaven or the next life. In my opinion you never stop learning. Each day is a brand new lesson that is waiting to be taught to you if you only look for it. If you feel life is nonsense and a waste do one thing for me first before you stop living. Go visit a childrens ward of a hospital where there are tons of children fighting for life everyday. Go and hold an elder persons hand at a nursing home for 10min who has no family. And if you are still stumped on this life being a waste talk to the wife and children of a military man who is fighting mass horrors to just get to see their faces one more time in this crazy world. If you are feeling depressed you may want to seek out a website on it and think about meds. Sounds crazy :O) i know but many depressed people feel hopeless in life. I did and now i have a "NORMAL" out look with good and bad days. But the main thing I do is appreciate this life I have been given and just wait for the next one with a smile.

I just came back from Guinea, West Africa, and I'm heading back to Haiti and then heading to India in a few months. Many days I can barely scrape together money for food.
Honey, you need to take a closer look at those who are fighting to get what you take for granted. Clean water, fresh food, a shelter, a knowledge of basic hygiene, free vaccination... free education, occupational opportunities...
I've found that I don't need to be in a hurry to leave this earth; I will. Chances are I wont be exactly excited to go either. The challenge is to make the absolute best of the time that I do have here.
Get Busy helping somebody and you just might find that you do have something to be thankful about.

No--life is not nonsense. If you feel there is no need to live--you need to take some long walks and look around you. Watch life in front you--all around you--it's everywhere. You were put here for a reason.

You have unique talents, giftings and a purpose that no one else has. This needs to be your goal in life..... finding what your strengths are and also how you can use them. For me I am the kind of person who wants to help people have a better life and also a better quality of life. After many years, just this year I came to several villages where I can do that and now my friends are helping me with my dream I am even taking some with me next year.
May you find the answers at the end of your "quest".
This is how you will be fulfilled in life as you find your purpose.

For you life may be nonsense for others it is meaningful. Life is what you make it. Do we deem the greatness of life on success, money, happiness, purpose. It's dependent on an individual to determine the need to live. We live to live. We live not to die. We live to justify our living. Find a reason and you find a need to live.

You gotta figure out what you need to deal with and it might take time.
You got depression? It can be life threatening. Don't take chances. You gotta get help.
Is there something from your past pulling down. You gotta confront it.
Do you have unrealistic goals? You gotta get real.
Do you know what talents you have? You gotta develop them and get joy from them.
Do you have supportive friends? You gotta find people like you.
Are you hungry for a mate? You gotta get independent first.
Are you rich and powerful enough to be totally independent? If not you gotta be social and care about the environment where you were born.
Is there someone you can share everything with or a shoulder to cry on? You gotta see a Priest or the like until you find your peers.
