Sure you can, but what about your pension? I just retired from teaching. At my age, I see what a disaster job changing can do to your golden years by changing jobs in terms of money. There is hardly a job that gives a pension any more, except for government work. You can out live your investment money or the markets can crash again. You cannot out live a pension. Even if you retire with 5 million, how much will you spend a year because you do not know how long you will live.

They say the average person your age will have three careers in their lifetime. If you are not passionate about teaching by now, it will only get worse, and then you have no business teaching because it affects too many people.
I come into the classroom as an occasional guest. I give it my all, I enjoy it, and that's enough for me.

You can change your job, and career at any age. It is not uncommon these days for individuals to have many successive, and even successful careers. Follow what you want to do.

Of course you can - why don't you looking in companies that would or would want your expertise. You could post your resume on Monster.com and see who comes looking and/or you can high a headhunter to find you a job.

Sure you can. Unless you plan on dying anytime soon, I don't see why you couldn't. And even then, you would be dead, so what would you care at that point? Go for it!!
