well you mix red and yellow together as you probally know and if you want to darken the shade add a hint of black paint until you get the right shade and if you go too dark you add white

Mix red and yellow going heavy on the red. then you can choose to add blue or black. black will make it deep and rich but you must never add white to that mix or you will get a grey tone to the orange (black and white always make grey even in a mix and you'll lose the richness of the orange that way) If you choose blue do it in drops and stop before you reach brown. you can still add black to that mix if you want but only in minute amounts. Oh and this is all assuming you have high quality paint, if it's cheap then stay away from black totally as cheap yellow has white already mixed in. Hope it wasn't confusing.
